A picture of a ladybug may be all that we will have left…

You would be terribly wrong to believe that bugs don’t play a vital role on this earth.  With pollution, conventional farming practices, global warming… on and on… there is a terrible plague of our insects dying off.  The Ladybug Project was specifically pulled together because of the crisis in the ladybug population.  Think it is silly?  Learn about it.  Remember when you were a little one and would encounter a ladybug?  Your great grandchildren may never have that pleasure and our crops will never be the same.  There is a full news report here.

    I hope our loss of ladybugs is just the drought of last year and continuing this year. Now I begin a search of a native population to introduce. All our green lacewings, honeybees and other native bees are also gone. We use no insecticides and are on 3 acres, semi rural. It worries me. I’m putting water out for the wasps which are very much reduced also. 😦 And we are infested with aphids.
